"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10

It was a Tuesday morning and I had been up early to get to the hospital because one of my men was having surgery. His surgery was successful and when he came back to his room we thanked God together and I headed to my car.

Pulling out of the parking lot I switched my radio on to the all-sports radio station but I noticed they weren't talking about sports. That was odd! It caught my attention so I listened as I steered the car back toward my office. They were talking about a plane that had flown into a high-rise in Manhattan. At that time they thought it was a small private plane and that it was accident.

When I walked into the office I found everyone huddled around and television. That's where I first saw the images that are forever etched on my memory. By that time the second airliner had hit the second tower and the smoke was rolling from both buildings. We struggled to get our minds around the horrific nightmare unfolding in front of our eyes. The enduring imge from September 11, 2011 in my mind is the image of white dust covered people fleeing for safety from the burning towers while at the same time first-responders where running in.

As we approach the 10th anniversary of that tragic day I superimpose those graphic mental images over this verse from the Proverbs - "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." That is the image I want you to burn on your heart and mind as they start showing the pictures of the planes crashing into the towers and the towers burning and bodies falling and then the collapse of the towers into rubble - "THE NAME OF THE LORD is a STRONG tower that you can run to and be safe!"
