September 6, 2011

"How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore."   Psalm 133:1-3

If there was anything good about September 11, 2001 it was September 12th. On that day a fractured nation came together. Suddenly we had our focus back. Suddenly, we rediscovered our faith. Suddenly, we remembered why freedom matters. Suddenly, the things that we have in common became more powerful than the causes that seperate us.

Unfortunate as 9-11 was, 9-12 was reassuring. If terrorists wanted to send a message on 9-11 Americans sent one back on the day after. They thought they attacked our strength but they only aroused it. Their cowardly actions proved that America is still the home of the brave and we are determined to remain the land of the free.

As we approach this infamous commemoration on 9-11-11, let's pray that despite a government that is divided we the people will stand together. We will take the occasion of the 10th anniversary of 9-11 to rally and reunite as we did on 9-12! Let's again shout loud and clear that we stand together in faith and in freedom! We know who the bad guys are and they aren't us. Even though we are not perfect we still embrace many good principles and values and those are what unite us! Like any family, we may pick on each other but no one picks on us!

Will you stand up for faith and for freedom? Will you keep first things first? And when you remember 9-11 will you do it in the spirit of 9-12?
